Kurzfassung

The technology consists of a microfluidic check valve that offers outstanding performance while providing an easy manufacturing technique, independence from lithographic methods, size scalability and an unique set of system properties 


Hintergrund

The check valve is a very basic element of microfluidic chips. It acts as a simple flow director like an electric diode but for fluidics and gases. It is used, and it will be used in a vast number of circuits needed in all types of chips expected to evolve in the uprising market of microfluidics.


Lösung

A microfluidic check valve that offers outstanding performance while providing an easy manufacturing technique, independence from lithographic methods, size scalability and a unique set of system properties. No additional elastomer layer has to be added to the chip. The valve consists of a membranous hinge serving as the closing valve element made of an elastic photopolymer which is only localized in the housing of the valve, nowhere else on the chip.
