MULTIFUNCTIONAL CONSTRUCTION TEXTILES FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE PERMANENT MOISTURE MONITORING IN TIMBER AND CONCRETE STRUCTURES

Abstract

The idea of the invention refers to the use and manufacturing of sensory textile structures which can be lattice-like, strand, band-shaped or appear as spacer structures. These structures are used for reinforcement, insulation or sealing and moisture monitoring of timber and concrete constructions.

Solution

The multifunctional construction textiles are made of a functional surface area and integrated into electrically conductive sensory fibres. The sensors are directly included in the material surface during the textile manufacturing process. These sensors are used for a continuous, extensively distributed measurement of dielectric properties of the medium covering the conductor according to TDR measurement methods (Time-Domain-Reflectometry).

Advantages

New sensory textiles through textile integration of humidity sensors using the following moisture analysis procedures: 1. Time-Domain-Reflectometry (TDR) measurement method 2. Measurement of damping /attenuation and phase shifting in alternating voltage fields of electric conductors due to humidity - 2D- and 3D-structures with integrated humidity sensors for different geometrical component shapes, - Procedure / process for permanent integration of new sensor mats in timber and concrete constructions, - Non-destructive, extensive, spatially resolved moisture monitoring of components made from wood/timber and concrete, - Method / Procedure / process for applying new sensory textiles in construction components / elements made from wood/timber and concrete (incl. acquisition of measurement data and their evaluation)
